Berkswell Station - A Solihull & West Midlands Gem!

Berkswell Station is on the West Coast Mainline between Birmingham International and Coventry. A station originally opened here in 1844. It serves the villages of Balsall Common and Berkswell.

In brief

A station opened between Balsall Common and Berkswell in 1844, as Docker's Lane. It was renamed to Berkswell in 1853, then Berkswell & Balsall Common in 1928, before going back to Berkswell in 1955. A level crossing was removed in 2004 as part of an upgrade to carry more high speed trains.

Berkswell Station - history and details

Berkswell takes it's name from the nearby village of Berkswell, but it is close to another village called Balsall Common.

The station opened in 1844 as Docker's Lane, it changed to Berkswell in 1853, then to Berkswell & Balsall Common in 1928 and finally back to Berkswell in 1955.

It's on the West Coast Mainline between Birmingham and Coventry, between Hampton-in-Arden and Tile Hill (in Coventry).

A level crossing was removed in 2004 as part of an upgrade to allow the line to carry more high speed trains. There is now a low bridge where this level crossing once stood.

Two trains an hour in both directions, while on Sunday's it's an hour service either way.

There is several lakes near the station, this is Lavender Hall Fishery. Lavender Cafe is also nearby.
