In brief
The station originally opened in 1838 on the London & Birmingham Railway's line between Coventry and Birmingham Curzon Street. Marston Green has remained open to passengers ever since, although it now goes to Birmingham New Street. Most of the station now dates from the 1970s. There is two footbridges at both ends, with one entrance from the Sheldon Country Park. It's near Birmingham Airport.

Marston Green is in Solihull, not far from Chelmsley Wood, it is close to the Sheldon Country Park, and has views of Birmingham Airport.

The original Marston Green Station was opened by the London & Birmingham Railway on their line from London Euston to Birmingham Curzon Street in 1838 (it changed to Birmingham New Street when that opened in the 1850s).
The current station building dates to the 1970s.
The rear green footbridge links the Marston Green Interchange (car park and buses) to the Sheldon Country Park.

There is also a station footbridge at the Birmingham end of the station, between the ticket office, and other platform.

There is normally two trains an hour in both directions between Birmingham New Street and Coventry, while on Sunday's services are hourly. Some services continue onto Northampton and London Euston. The services to Birmingham New Street, now continue on to Rugeley Trent Valley.

Sheldon Country Park access
If you have a walk through the Sheldon Country Park, or to plane spot near Birmingham Airport, Marston Green Station is the perfect station to get you back to Birmingham (if you are not going on the bus).

The best view of the park from the station, is the footbridge from the ticket office at platform 1 to platform 2. If you are lucky, you might catch planes taking off from Birmingham Airport.
