In brief

Solihull is on the Chiltern Mainline between Birmingham Snow Hill / Moor Street and London Marylebone. First opened in 1852 by the Great Western Railway on their London Paddington to Birmingham main line. In the 1930s the line was quadrupled, and the station had two island platforms. But by the 1960s / 70s this was reduced to one island platform. Part of the Snow Hill Lines.

After the old Birmingham Snow Hill was closed in the 1970s, and later rebuilt in the 1990s, after privatisation, Chiltern Railways established a mainline towards London Marylebone.

Solihull is a useful station for people wanting to go on day trips or weekends to London (if you live in the south of Birmingham).

There is a subway at the station between the ticket office and ticket machines (near Station Approach), the other end leads to a path to Blossomfield Road (and more bus stops).

There is also a car park next to the station (but you have to pay for it now).

As well as Station Approach with the buses.

Solihull Town Centre is a short distance away on foot.
