Take Off sculpture near Birmingham Airport

If arriving at Birmingham Airport by car, bus or coach, you will probably pass a sculpture called Take Off by the artist Walenty Pytel. It is in the middle of Bird Island, Airport Way.

Where is Take Off?

Take Off is in the middle of Bird Island near Airport Way, heading towards Birmingham Airport

In brief

The sculptor Walenty Pytel commemorated 40 years of Peace in Europe (end of World War 2 in 1945, so this would be around 1985) with a sculpture made out of steel sheet. It depicts three flying birds, and is titled Take Off. They create a silhouette from one side. The sculpture itself dates to around circa 1989. And is best seen from a car, bus or coach.
